How we verify data: status definitions
By RWAWeekly team · Oct 31, 2026
Every value in our verification pilot carries its own source link, the time we read it, the date it refers to and a status that says how far it has been checked. This page defines those statuses.
The pilot covers ten tokenized funds and tokens: BlackRock BUIDL, Circle USYC, Ondo USDY, Franklin Templeton BENJI (FOBXX), OpenEden TBILL, Tether Gold (XAUT), Spiko eurSAFO, PAX Gold (PAXG), Franklin iBENJI and Maple syrupUSDC. We use our own on-chain reads, issuers' own pages and documents, and SEC filings. We do not estimate. A value we cannot find in a primary source is shown as unavailable.
Verification statuses
| Status | Label | What it means |
|---|---|---|
on_chain_verified | Verified (on-chain) | We read the value ourselves from a public blockchain, from a contract address the issuer publishes. Examples: token supply from totalSupply(), a NAV from the issuer's on-chain price feed. |
sec_filing_reported | Reported in an SEC filing | The value is stated in a filing on the SEC's EDGAR system, for example a prospectus (485BPOS), summary prospectus (497K), monthly money market fund report (N-MFP3), annual report (N-CSR) or Form D. We link the filing itself. We did not audit the figure. |
issuer_reported | Issuer-reported | The value is published by the issuer or its tokenization platform on its own website or documents. We link the page. We did not verify it independently. |
policy_not_verified | Policy, not verified | The value is a stated policy, not a measurement. The usual case is a money market fund that seeks to keep its price at $1.00 per share. The fund does not guarantee it, and a policy is not a verified NAV. |
calculated_from_verified | Calculated from verified inputs | Our own calculation (on-chain supply × NAV) where every input is verified on-chain. The row lists the input observations. |
calculated_from_policy | Calculated using a $1.00 policy | On-chain supply × a $1.00 NAV policy. The supply is verified; the price is a policy, so the result is not a verified value. |
calculated_from_reported | Calculated from reported inputs | Our own calculation where at least one input is reported, not verified. |
unavailable | Unavailable | We could not find the value in a primary source, or could not read it. We show 'unavailable' and never fill the gap with an estimate. |
discrepancy | Discrepancy | An issuer-published or filed figure differs from our own latest calculation by more than 10%. Both values are kept and shown; neither replaces the other. Dates often differ, so a discrepancy is a flag to check, not a finding of error. |
How each field gets its source, observation time and measurement date
- On-chain values (token supply, on-chain NAV): the source link is the block explorer page for the contract we read. The observation time is when our data run read the chain. The measurement time is the same moment: the value is the chain state at that read. We only read contract addresses the issuer publishes; the issuer page is recorded with each address.
- SEC filings: the source link is the filing document on EDGAR. The observation time is when we retrieved it. The measurement date is the date the filing reports on, for example the month-end of a monthly money market fund report. Fund facts such as fees or minimums carry the filing's date in the note.
- Attestation reports (gold tokens): the source link is the report the issuer publishes. The measurement date is the date the report covers, which can be months before our own on-chain read; both are shown.
- Issuer pages: the source link is the page. The observation time is when we read it. The measurement date is the 'as of' date printed on the page; if the page prints none, it is left empty, not guessed.
- Calculations (value = on-chain supply × NAV): the row lists the observations it was built from. Its status follows the weakest input: verified only when every input is verified.
- Policies: a stated $1.00 share price is recorded as a policy. It is used to value the token on the board, and it is labelled as a policy wherever it appears.
Rules
- Observations are append-only. We never overwrite or delete a recorded value. If a label was wrong, we add a correction record and keep the original.
- When two primary sources disagree (for example a minimum investment in a filing and a different one in a press release), we keep both and show the conflict. We do not pick one silently.
- An issuer or filed figure more than 10% away from our own latest calculation is marked as a discrepancy and shown with both dates.
- Values in another currency (for example EUR) are kept in that currency. We do not convert them for a comparison.
- Values from third-party aggregators are not used in the pilot.
